Date Posted: 11/29/2023 Req ID: 35170 Faculty/Division: Uof T Mississauga Department: UTM: Geography Campus: University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Description: Course Number and Title: GGR210H5S Social Geographies (SSc) Course Description: Social Geography is concerned with the ways in which social relations, identities and inequalities are produced across space. This course examines social geography in the North American context with a specific focus on identity/difference and inequalities in cities. We will explore cities as sites of both cosmopolitan inclusion and exclusion. Estimated Course Enrolment: 110 students Estimated TA Support: will be subject to final enrollment figures. Class Schedule: Thursdays 9-11 am. This course is currently designated to meet in-person. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable Sessional Dates of Appointment: F courses September 1 – December 30, 2023. S courses January 1 – April 30, 2024 Y courses September 1, 2023 – April 30, 2024 Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, as of September 1, 2023, rate of pay is $9,457.90 for a Half (F/S) course, $18,915.79 for a full (Y) course. All pay rates are inclusive of 4% vacation pay. Note: Sessional positions involve completion of any course grading remaining incomplete at the end of the academic session. This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12. Positions are tentative pending final course enrolments. Minimum Qualifications: Ph D or Ph D Candidate in human geography. Previous experience teaching a similar course, and evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course would be considered an asset. Description of Duties: All normal duties related.
