Description:
1. Prepare lesson plans for the principal's careful and thorough review which are correlated to the current state curriculum standards, and then effectively use the lesson plans;2. Use appropriate grade level, data-driven, research-based, teaching strategies to teach the appropriate curriculum standards to all student, and subgroups of students;3. Analyze the most recent, appropriate, formal state assessment results (including Value-Added and TVAAS Teacher Effect, when applicable) as well as the latest system-and school-level Report Card, studying identified strengths and weaknesses, then make appropriate adjustments in the classroom;4. Serve as a positive and active participant in the appropriate Professional Learning Community (school level and system level when applicable)5. Assess frequently students' comprehension and application of expected curriculum standards;6. Take responsibility for all students' mastery of applicable curriculum standards and significant academic growth;7. Teach knowledge and skills in all 5 areas of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts, & Mathematics) including inquiry, design, dialogue, and critical thinking skills adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities;8. Instruct students in leadership and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school system;9. Provide instruction by which students develop observation skills, find patterns, analyze results, and predict outcomes. Introducing this type of scientific thinking to learners instills essential critical thinking skills, and helps them become better problem solvers;10. Develop instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time;11. Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities;12. Establish and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive studio environment;13. Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment;14. Organize storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to maintain time required for distribution and collection;15. Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepares progress reports;16. Select and requisition books, instructional materials, tools instructional aids, and maintains required inventory records;17. Plan and present projects and exhibitions designed to exhibit student's work for the school, school system, and the community;18. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the system and/or in self-selected professional growth activities;19. Maintain a correct record of student attendance that can be audited and makes daily reports of students absent each period (when appropriate);20. Communicate with parents, classroom teachers, and school counselors on student progress;21. Attempt to integrate STREAM activities with the academic disciplines; participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment or on a system level; and22. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
